This role develops and executes integrated campaigns that support key business units across the Division of Administration including – but not limited to Campus Dining, Public Safety, Dialogue Vanderbilt, and Parking Services – by translating complex operational initiatives into clear and compelling narratives. Reporting to the Senior Director of Communications and Marketing, this position serves as a communications strategist and campaign lead, building strong working relationships across the division while ensuring alignment with institutional tone, values, and objectives.

Key Functions and Expected Performance:
Strategic and Internal Communications:
Develop and implement internal communication strategies that support organizational clarity, culture, and belonging among Division of Administration staff. Create timely, audience-specific messaging for internal updates, leadership announcements, employee newsletters, and Teams channels. Collaborate with divisional leadership to support transparent and effective change communications.
Campaign Development and Execution:
Lead the planning and execution of integrated communications campaigns related to administrative initiatives and strategic priorities. Manage campaign timelines, messaging calendars, and performance assessments. Serve as point of contact for multi-unit communications efforts and initiatives.
Content Creation and Editorial Oversight:
Draft and edit written content for web, email, signage, presentations, and executive messages. Provide editorial guidance and first-round review for communications created by team members. Ensure all content aligns with Vanderbilt’s tone, style, and institutional voice.
Engagement and Analytics:
Monitor engagement metrics (e.g., email open/click rates, website analytics, survey data) and apply insights to improve communications impact. Prepare post-campaign reports and recommendations for continuous improvement.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Support collaborative communication planning across diverse departments and stakeholder groups. Serve as a liaison to the Division of Communications and other university partners to ensure message alignment.
Supervisory Relationships:
This position may involve supervising student employees or interns.
Experience and Education:
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 5 years of experience in marketing, public relations, journalism or related field.
Skills:
Demonstrated success in developing and executing employee/internal communications strategies. Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills across a variety of formats and tones. Strong project management and organizational skills; able to manage multiple priorities. Proficiency with digital communications platforms including Microsoft Teams, WordPress, and email marketing tools (e.g., Emma). Familiarity with analytics tools and data-driven decision-making. Visual storytelling, light design, or video editing skills are a plus. Commitment to working collaboratively with shared leadership and in cross-functional teams. Strong interpersonal and written communications skills. Track record with influencing, driving continuous improvements. Ability to manage multiple projects. Can meet tight deadlines.
