Digital Media Specialist
REPORTS TO
Executive Director of Communications
JOB GOAL
Support the mission and vision of Hoover City Schools by developing high-quality media assets, such as videos, graphics, photographs, and infographics that enhance the visibility of school district initiatives
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university Three (3) years of experience in communications, public relations, multimedia production, or other related fields Exceptional oral and written communication skills Strong analytical and decision-making skills Strong ability to be adaptive to and proficiently use current technologies Experience producing high-quality digital media content Ability to develop/maintain positive rapport and credibility with key shareholder groups Possess a strong understanding of visual storytelling and best practices in videography and photography Knowledge of best practices for designing effective and engaging social media and website content Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule. Ability to meet suitability criteria under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-457 Such alternatives to the above qualifications as state, federal, and local law, and the Board may require
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Demonstrates support for the school system and its mission, vision, and goals Designs digital media campaigns that are aligned with the district’s vision and mission Coordinates the creation of digital media content (video, graphics, infographics, photographs, etc.) that supports various school district initiatives Manages the creation and production of videos from concept/theme development and script writing to production and post-production editing Assists in developing digital media content that highlights important projects and initiatives Monitors, evaluates, and analyzes digital trends to propose innovative content ideas. Assists in managing the district’s website and social media platforms, ensuring consistent, on-brand messaging across channels Ensures all digital content adheres to established brand guidelines and meets legal standards Adheres to local Board policies, administrative procedures, and other like directives, as well as state, federal, and local laws Performs other job-related duties as assigned by the Supervisor(s) This job description describes the general nature and level of work performed by employees assigned to this position.
