About the role:
As the Community Liaison Officer, you’ll support critical part of the Community Team that delivers community strategy for Drax Group in the US. Within this role, you’ll help to build trust and support the delivery of business objectives in Drax’s operating communities in the US.
You’ll be responsible for promoting strong and effective communications and relationships between Drax and the local community, including participation in a local Community Advisory Panel. You will proactively build relationships with local community leaders, non-profit organizations, and traditionally under-represented voices within our operating communities. You will also be the first point of contact for a range of community enquiries.
As part of this role, you will work cross-functionally with our Sustainability and Corporate Affairs teams, including the Communications and International Affairs teams, to ensure close alignment of community engagement agendas. You will also work closely with the wider Community team and other Community Liaison Officers.
In addition, you’ll work with the Operations team members to address community concerns related to local plant operations. Coordinate with various internal teams to ensure a unified approach to community relations and corporate social responsibility efforts.
You will be responsible for the following:

Support Community Inquiries:

Serve as the initial point of contact for community-related questions and concerns
Ensure timeline and effective communication of community issues and feedback the Community Manager and local operations team
Act as the primary contact for responding to inquiries through the Community Grievance Mechanism
Relay inquiries to the appropriate teams and ensure a closed-loop process to facilitate solutions and follow-up

Community Fund Support:

Collaborate with the Community Manager to identity local non-profit organizations and projects that align with the Community Fund’s purpose
Participate in the selection process and provide recommendations for funding support
Coordinate the processing of donations to ensure timely and efficient distribution of funds

Community Outreach and Stakeholder Relations:

Build and strengthen relationships with local community leaders, schools, non-profit organizations, and other stakeholders
Engage with the community to understand local priorities and concerns, and communicate these insights to the organization to enhance community involvement and support strategic community initiatives
Provide input into the development and execution of the community engagement plan

Event Coordination and Participation:

Arrange and participate in local community events, focus groups, and meetings
Represent the organization at community events and ensure active participation and engagement
Who we’re looking for:
To be successful in this role you’ll ideally have…
Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Public Relations, or in related field is required.
Experience of working in a community outreach, relationship building, and public engagement
Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Strong understanding in overseeing complex projects with an emphasis on achieving strategic outcomes.
Be willing to travel 50% of the time to Drax’s AL sites where Drax has operations in the US, and develop an understanding of the underlying forces issues that face these communities
Must have experience working with community organizations, non-profit organizations and local stakeholders.
Proven ability to work cross-functionally within an organization
