Position Summary:

The Digital Communications Specialist is the dynamic on-camera presence and voice of The Sentinel-Record across social media platforms. This role is responsible for creating engaging digital content, conducting Facebook Live interviews with reporters and community members, hosting marketing events, and representing the newspaper at public functions. The ideal candidate is confident, charismatic, and passionate about local news and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

Serve as the on-camera host for live and recorded social media content, including Facebook Live segments, interviews, event coverage, and feature stories. Interview Sentinel-Record reporters about upcoming or ongoing stories to drive community interest and online engagement. Represent the newspaper at community events, festivals, and business functions, engaging with the public and promoting Sentinel-Record initiatives. Work closely with the newsroom and marketing teams to develop compelling, timely, and relevant digital content. Coordinate and host digital promotional campaigns and events designed to grow subscriptions, build brand loyalty, and boost social media following. Monitor and respond to audience engagement on social media platforms in a professional and engaging manner. Assist with occasional script writing, video planning, and content scheduling. Stay current with trends in digital media, journalism, and social content strategy.

Qualifications:

Excellent on-camera presence with strong verbal communication skills. Experience in journalism, broadcasting, communications, or public relations preferred. Comfortable conducting live interviews and appearing in unscripted video segments. Skilled in social media platforms (especially Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube). Enthusiastic about community events, local news, and storytelling. Ability to collaborate across departments and juggle multiple projects. Flexible availability to attend events during evenings or weekends as needed

Bonus Skills:

Video editing or familiarity with tools like Canva, Adobe Premiere, or CapCut. Photography or livestream production experience. Background in marketing or community outreach.

TRANSPORTATION REQUIREMENTS
