JOB DESCRIPTION

This position is responsible for planning, producing, and distributing communications content that supports the Center’s academic mission, outreach programs, and public events. The Publicist will coordinate marketing campaigns across digital and print media, manage the Center’s website and social media platforms, and oversee event promotion and logistics. The role requires regular collaboration with faculty, students, staff, and external partners, as well as the development of materials to engage donors and alumni. This position supports strategic communications planning and plays a key role in cultivating the Center’s public profile and campus presence. Outreach and Marketing Design and execute promotional campaigns across platforms to advance the Center’s mission.
Develop email newsletters, social media content, press releases, and event collateral.
Manage contact lists for students, alumni, and community partners.
Create brand-consistent visuals and marketing materials.
Collaborate with CLAS Advancement and external stakeholders to increase awareness and reach. Event Management Plan and oversee logistics for lectures, speaker series, receptions, and community events.
Serve as on-site coordinator and primary contact for vendors, speakers, and campus partners.
Handle event budgets, schedules, promotion, and staffing.
Co-host events with local organizations and manage engagement tracking. Student Engagement Represent the Center at campus events such as Preview and Convocation.
Promote Jewish Studies courses and Center events to enrolled and prospective students.
Collaborate with student organizations to increase visibility and participation.

EXPECTED SALARY

The salary is $50,000 – $60,000. This is a TEAMS position—UF’s designation for staff roles—eligible for a comprehensive benefits package, including paid leave, retirement plans, and health insurance. Learn more about TEAMS benefits here.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree and two years of relevant experience; or an Associate’s degree and four years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

PREFERRED

Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, public relations, or event management.
1-3 years of professional experience in public relations, communications, event planning, or community outreach.
Demonstrated success in building and executing multi-platform marketing campaigns.
Experience managing logistics and promotion for public events, including working with outside vendors and campus partners.
Proficiency in email marketing tools, social media scheduling, and web content management systems.
Proficiency in design software, such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
Strong creative vision, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and exceptional attention to detail.
Familiarity with donor engagement practices and/or working with academic or nonprofit institutions.
The ability to work strategically, develop and implement constituency programs and activities, along with a talent for motivating volunteers.
Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify challenges, analyze situations, and devise effective solutions.
Strong interpersonal abilities and the capacity to engage effectively and collaboratively with various individuals are essential.
Knowledge of or interest in Jewish Studies or related fields preferred.
