This role will focus on executing communication strategies that establish trust within our community, cultivate creativity through inspiring content, and develop leadership among our students, staff, and supporters. You will oversee content creation, social media, media relations, and internal communications, ensuring alignment with our core pillars. Reporting to the Director of Institutional Advancement, the Marketing and Communications Specialist of Jacksonville Arts and Music School (JAMS) will be a passionate advocate of arts education and leadership training for youth. The JAMS Marketing and Communications Specialist will implement the mission of “Empowering the creative leaders of tomorrow” by establishing trust, cultivating creativity, and leading the development of leadership skills among students and staff daily. The Marketing and Communications Specialist will play a vital role in elevating the school’s visibility and reputation. Responsibilities Establish Trust Administer digital marketing tools – build newsletters and create marketing content and design for all areas of the school, including admissions, events, fundraising, alumni relations, the Black Box, and the Corner Store. Develop transparent, authentic messaging that highlights the organization’s impact on students and the community. Manage media relations, including drafting press releases about performances, exhibitions, and community events. Support internal communication to keep students, families, staff, and supporters informed and engaged. Monitor media coverage and community feedback to maintain a positive reputation. Uphold the school’s values and ensure all communications reflect our commitment to arts education and community building. In partnership with leadership, spearhead the development of the annual report. Cultivate Creativity Revitalize and oversee the production of the Imagine Outloud quarterly publications, ensuring engaging content that reflects the organization’s mission. Lead the development of engaging content that highlights student work, performances, and artistic achievements across digital platforms. Manage creative campaigns promoting upcoming events. Collaborate with Leadership, Creative Leaders, students to produce compelling visual and multimedia content. Stay current on arts and education industry trends to keep our messaging fresh and innovative. Support branding efforts to reflect the school’s vibrant arts culture visually and narratively. Photograph, video, and document happenings on campus. Manage the collection of photographs and videos. Develop Leadership Mentor and guide staff and student ambassadors involved in communication activities. Support planning and promotion of school events, performances, and community outreach initiatives. Lead strategic communication efforts to position the school as a leader in creative arts and leadership development within Jacksonville. Analyze campaign performance and community engagement metrics to inform future strategies. Foster collaboration across departments to ensure cohesive messaging and storytelling.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Arts Administration, or related field. 3+ years of experience in communications, marketing, or arts education settings. Strong storytelling, writing, and editing skills. Experience managing social media platforms, digital content, and media relations. Passion for arts and music education. Ability to handle multiple projects with flexibility and creativity. Familiarity with digital marketing tools and analytics.

Preferred Skills:

Experience in arts organizations or educational institutions. Multimedia content creation, including video and graphic design. Knowledge of SEO, online advertising, and community engagement strategies. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively.
