Occasional travel in Tampa area (event-related), air travel 1-2x per year for staff events as required, and infrequent travel on weekends (event-related) Hourly rate: Between $28.85/hr ($60K annually) and $29.80/hr ($62K annually). Non-exempt position

Tampa Bay’s Chapter was founded over 10 years ago with the support and leadership from the Tampa Bay Lightning, Tampa Bay Rays, and the Triad Foundation. Collectively, PCA and its partners bring a wealth of expertise and commitment to setting new standards in youth sports in America so that every young person has access to the benefits of a positive youth sports experience regardless of social or economic circumstance. PCA is looking for people who are passionate about the power of youth sports to improve outcomes for young people to join our small but mighty team. Position Profile As our Events and Communications Coordinator, you would directly impact the local youth sports community through leading the execution of programs that reinforce the value of youth sports done right. You are a very organized, proactive, detailed project-manager who also can show some prior experience and passion in developing relationships, building community, and engaging stakeholders towards the work of an organization. KEY Responsibilities Recognition & Awards Program Coordination Plans, coordinates, and executes the Chapter’s established, annual Triple-Impact Competitor Scholarship Program (TIC) and the Coach of the Year (COTY) Programs in coordination with HQ events team when applicable.. This includes managing the application platform and details of the TIC application, sending outreach communications to relevant constituents, identifying new sources for applications/nominations, mobilizing Chapter staff to solicit and follow up on incomplete submissions, and guiding individuals to complete items as needed. Drafts communications content for Executive Director/marketing approval and manages the Chapter’s social media accounts in coordination with HQ marketing team. A specific emphasis will be made through social media to highlight TIC and local COTY nominees, finalists, winners, and sponsors through video, interview, photos, etc., and to tease announcements to ultimately engage followers. Project-manages a team of adult volunteers who support the TIC and COTY programs as a review committee. Coordinates TIC program mentorship activities including recruiting, engaging, and building relationships with mentors who support scholarship finalists and winners, creating and implementing multiple events each school year for scholarship finalists, winners, and mentors, and keeps mentors educated and engaged in PCA – Tampa Bay’s main principles and initiatives. Plans key events and other opportunities recognizing those involved in TIC and COTY programs. Measures, summarizes, reports, and suggests learnings on the progress and goals, basic budget impact, and social media statistics of the annual Chapter recognition programs to Chapter staff regularly and upon completion, including year-over-year changes of the TIC and COTY Programs. Builds and maintains a community of TIC and COTY winners through regular engagement throughout the year such as communications, events, and social media. Coordinates with PCA’s marketing HQ staff to update the Chapter’s TIC and COTY websites. Assists in engagement of partners or supporters through other grant awards for the Chapter. Opportunity to audition to become a PCA Trainer, facilitating workshops in high schools and middle schools in Tampa Bay. General Chapter Program & Administrative Support Serves as a PCA -Tampa Bay ambassador through attending partner events, effectively communicating the work of the chapter, and representing the mission of the Organization. Provides logistical or administrative support to the Chapter’s leadership team as needed, i.e. presentation preparation, event coordination/ prep/ logistics, handling mail/ supplies, etc Qualifications (Education & Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities) Passion for youth and high school sports…and PCA’s mission! At least two years’ experience in a coordinator role requiring professional communications and project-management skills Experience with event planning coordination with strong attention to documentation, detail, and improvements from event to event Prior experience creating social media content and posting in alignment with business goals Experienced with creating and editing presentations with PowerPoint and presenting in person and on Zoom in front of groups of 2-25 people Can demonstrate strong English writing skills used in a supervised position for a minimum of two years: concise, appropriate tone, adjusting to the audience, effectively addressing goals of content, no grammatical or vocabulary errors, etc Identifying as a “people-person”: Prior experience coordinating groups of people/volunteers, has acted as a team player internally and externally, and has proactively communicated good news and bad news while successfully building and maintaining relationships Strong organization, calendar management, and administrative skills.
