The Team
A&M is seeking a talented and detail-driven Technical Communication Specialist to join our IT Communications and Change Management team. This hybrid role blends technical writing and content strategy, supporting both technical and non-technical audiences with clear, engaging, and actionable content. This position combines the role of technical writer and content marketer. The technical communications specialist will be responsible for planning and producing procedural documentation, writing and editing emails, proofreading and editing knowledge base documentation, and enforcing communication best practices, all while adhering to brand and style guidelines.
You’ll play a critical role in supporting IT initiatives by developing strategic communication plans, training materials, process documentation, and user-focused content. From creating knowledge articles to managing platform outage communications, your work will help ensure employees understand and adopt the tools and systems they need to succeed.
How you will contribute
Collaborate with IT leaders and subject matter experts to write and publish emails, articles, SOPs, and other change management materials to understand tools, systems, and their unique audiences.
Develop and execute communication plans to support IT initiatives, driving awareness, adoption, and understanding.
Write and edit content independently, including training materials, process documentation, and internal communications.
Manage multiple projects and competing deadlines across various IT verticals.
Use our internal communications platform to craft both planned and emergency outage messages.
Write clear, concise, and engaging promotional content about technical initiatives.
Edit and proofread technical documentation, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and alignment with style guidelines.
Continuously improve documentation and communication processes to enhance the user experience.
Contribute to broader change management and organizational design efforts as needed.
Use Pardot to write planned and major incident outage communications.
Edit, format, and proofread technical documentation.
Write clear and simple non-technical SharePoint articles about technical initiatives.
Demonstrate ability to prioritize and balance multiple priorities and projects.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in communication, English, Education, Technical Writing, or a related field.
At least 2 years of experience in technical writing, change management, content strategy, or knowledge management.
A strong grasp of Microsoft 365 and familiarity with common style guides (APA, Chicago, Microsoft Manual of Style, etc.).
The ability to translate complex technical information into clear, user-friendly language and visuals.
A strong sense of audience—able to anticipate user needs and advocate for a better experience.
Exceptional organizational and project management skills; able to juggle multiple deadlines.
A collaborative team player who works well across departments and levels of technical expertise.

The salary range is $75,000 – $95,000 annually, dependent on several variables including but not limited to education, experience, skills, and geography.
