Job Description

Guest Group Communications Coordinator 4.6 4.6 out of 5 stars Ocklawaha, FL All camps share a common purpose: creating an environment where Young Life staff bring Christ to life by creatively presenting the complete gospel of Jesus Christ. Speaking clearly from the Scriptures, camp speakers introduce kids to the person of Christ, the nature of humanity, the work of Christ on the cross, the hope of the resurrection and the opportunity for reconciliation with God. Essential Duties:

Gather requests for facilities and services, communicating changes and addressing concerns for incoming guest groups; communicate this information to the different departments at the property well in advance of the group’s arrival. Share host responsibilities with the guest services team. Develop and maintain all guest services materials that are part of the communication process with guest groups (e.g. Guest Group Planning Packet) Cultivate and maintain a constant open line of communication with Young Life field staff and non-Young Life guest groups in relation to their use of and comments about the property. Understand interdepartmental relations as related to service for the guest group. Possess familiarity with all aspects of the camping operations (e.g. Food Service, Housekeeping, Administration, Maintenance and Guest Services) Serve as the liaison between the property and the various assigned staff who will make use of the facility during the school year (e.g. camp director, program team, etc.). Research, develop and implement specific projects as assigned by the guest services coordinator. Other duties as required by immediate supervisor.

Education:

A four-year college degree preferred. Training in hospitality preferred.

Experience Required For The Job:

Must be organized, detail-oriented, customer service oriented, have effective phone skills and be a clear communicator. Must be familiar with the ministry strategy and mission of Young Life. Must possess skills and gifts in communication, organization and administration. Able to function in a healthy manner where relationships are transient in nature. Able to communicate a sense of warmth, hospitality and concern for all staff and users of the property. Able to relate to all camping staff in a professional manner that enhances the total flow of camp operation. Able to respond to urgent and unscheduled needs of guest groups.

Responding to the unexpected needs of a guest in a prompt and professional manner is important. All staff members are expected to represent Young Life positively and professionally within the community and be able to work with and minister to the volunteer high school and college-age young people who attend our camp.

Job Specific Working Conditions:

Southwind serves our guests using a Guest-Keeping model, making this position unique compared to a traditional Guest Group Communications Coordinator role. This unique position offers many opportunities for growth, as it includes responsibilities within the broader Guest Services umbrella.

  • Must be able to lift materials up to 50 pounds and perform other physical tasks such as stooping, reaching, pushing, squatting, kneeling, climbing, etc.
  • Will be exposed to cleaning chemicals.
  • Southwind is located in beautiful Central Florida.

Southwind is close to Orlando and Gainesville, which offer many outdoor adventure opportunities, and a full array of amenities. Southwind operates year round and serves every brand of Young Life camping and a variety of church groups, private Christian schools, and outreach ministries. Southwind is in an exciting stage of a master plan build-out that includes new structures and the remodel of existing structures.
