Job Description
SUMMARY The Communications Specialist serves as a resource within the Company’s Communications and greater Human Resources functions to assist in the alignment of day-to-day operations and processes, including calendar planning and management, cross-functional activity coordination, coordination and support of the Company’s rewards and recognition programs, the creation and distribution of Company messaging, and support for campaign and event execution. This position will work closely with HR management and multi-disciplinary teams to implement communication strategies across the organization and work collaboratively with a variety of departments to ensure overall communications needs are met. They are a key contributor in a fast-paced and dynamic environment to ensure that objectives are organized, prioritized, and publicized.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Provides support for core operational processes of Company communications across the organization. Activities include but are not limited to written communications, graphic design, intranet, e-board, internal group and social media posting, communication and planning meetings, Associate events, and rewards and recognition activities and programs. Writes effectively and with appropriate tone for internal audiences. Creates messaging, including feature content, newsletters, digital assets, and more. Assists in planning, communication, and coordination of Company events, activities, and programs. Liaison to department heads within the organization to ensure adequate awareness and understanding of messaging, calendar, communications plans, etc. Assists in the development and execution of strategic communications and engagement plans designed to support key business objectives and long-term goals. Helps keep communications fresh, creative, and engaging, following the Company’s branding and communications standards; assists in development and exploration of new ideas and strategies. Develops and analyzes metrics to assess the effectiveness and impact of initiatives and tools, and recommends actions based on metrics. Maintains confidentiality of all information relating to Company communications and HR functions. Assists in managing consultants/contracted resources as needed, including interns. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s Degree in communications, journalism, or business with some work experience; or an Associate’s Degree with 2+ years relevant communications experience required; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Additional requirements include:
Exceptional analytical and verbal and written communication skills. Ability to quickly produce written communication pieces to crystallize concepts into messaging in a dynamic and evolving environment. Event planning and execution experience. Digital tools management of communications channels. Strong graphic design experience with Canva. Some experience with Adobe programs (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, etc.) preferred. Demonstrated ability to develop effective partnerships across the organization at all levels. Strong project management skills and pronounced attention to detail. Able to work well within a team, as well as work independently on projects.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, communication pieces, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information for groups of managers and Associates.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent. Ability to draw and interpret basic graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
