Job Description

Communications and Social Media Specialist 4.0 4.0 out of 5 stars Kerr, NC JOB Alamance Community College is seeking a dynamic, creative, and detail-oriented Communications and Social Media Specialist to join our Marketing team. This position plays a key role in enhancing the College’s visibility through engaging content, compelling stories, and consistent branding across multiple channels.

Reporting to the Director of Marketing, this position will lead content creation and digital storytelling efforts that connect with prospective students, current students, employees, and the broader community. This includes managing social media platforms, developing email campaigns, producing digital newsletters, photography, videography, and supporting communications around college events and initiatives.

A strong portfolio demonstrating your experience in social media management, writing, photography, video production, and email marketing is required.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesManage and grow the College’s presence across social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, and others.

Plan and create original, engaging content—including video, photography, and graphics—to highlight student life, academic programs, events, and college news.

Write and distribute bi-weekly internal newsletters and targeted email campaigns using digital platforms.

Write, edit, and contribute to major college publications including but not limited to the Annual Report, ensuring content aligns with institutional goals, brand standards, and messaging priorities.

Maintain and implement a strategic content calendar to ensure consistent messaging across platforms.

Collaborate with departments, faculty, student groups, and leadership to promote programs and events.

Assist with media coverage and marketing support for college-sponsored events.

Monitor social media activity and respond to messages and comments in alignment with ACC’s voice and values.

Track performance metrics and provide insights to inform strategy and engagement efforts.

Ensure all communications adhere to the College’s branding, tone, and style guidelines.

Support digital and print content on campus, ensuring current and relevant event promotion.

Serve as a communications liaison to promote collaboration across departments.
