Radiology Clinical Communication Specialist Valley Radiology North Carolina • Remote Company Overview Valley Radiology has been a cornerstone of professional imaging services in the greater Fayetteville region for over 50 years. Established in 1956, we have evolved into one of the largest radiology practices in southeastern North Carolina, providing comprehensive imaging solutions to hospitals, outpatient imaging centers, urgent care centers, and patients across a ten-county area. Summary The Radiology Clinical Communication Specialist is a key liaison between radiologists, referring providers, technologists, clinical staff, and sometimes patients. This role ensures the efficient, timely, and accurate exchange of critical radiology information. By supporting clinical communication, documentation, and workflow management, these specialists enable radiologists to focus on diagnostic interpretation while enhancing patient care and provider satisfaction.
Responsibilities Facilitate Radiologist Communication:
Receive and triage incoming calls/messages directed to radiologists. Coordinate real-time communication of critical, urgent, and significant unexpected findings per established protocols. Assist in documenting verbal communications with providers in the EHR or radiology information system (RIS).
Provider Liaison:
Clarify imaging orders and clinical indications when necessary. Coordinate consults or follow-ups between referring providers and radiologists. Support escalation of issues impacting patient care or workflow.
Workflow Management:
Prioritize communication requests based on clinical urgency. Monitor study status and facilitate follow-up actions as directed by radiologists.
Documentation & Compliance:
Document all clinical communications and provider interactions by regulatory and hospital policy standards. Track and assist with compliance audits for critical result reporting.
Technology & Systems:
Navigate PACS, RIS, EHR, and other imaging-related systems to support radiologist workflow. Maintain accurate logs or dashboards for communication tracking as needed. Requirements High school diploma or equivalent 2+ years of experience in a clinical or imaging setting Strong knowledge of medical terminology, especially radiology-related Proficient in
EHR/PACS/RIS
