Job Description

: The North Carolina Office of the State Auditor (OSA) is seeking an Information and Communications Specialist. This position assists with the digital communications functions

  • particularly social media
  • of OSA, including documenting events attended by the State Auditor. The North Carolina Office of the State Auditor (OSA) is the Taxpayers Watchdog. We operate as the States Independent Auditor and provide unbiased audit and investigative reports so stakeholders can make informed decisions, hold entities accountable, and ensure good stewardship of public funds. As part of our team, you will get to:
  • Provide constituents and stakeholders with timely, engaging, and informative content that illustrates the work being done by OSA staff.
  • Create and manage a structured, goal oriented social media strategy for all OSA social media accounts.
  • Frequently use cellphone cameras, digital cameras, microphones, and other digital technology equipment.
  • Work with OSA’s Communications Team on messaging and content creation for social media and digital communications.

  • Documented knowledge of communication and/or publication principles and practices
  • Documented knowledge of effective practices for growing social media engagement
  • Documented knowledge of the methods and techniques for developing digital communications
  • Strong social media skills and the ability to think creatively about how to best engage with audiences online
  • Ability to manage multiple social media accounts for a government agency
  • Familiarity with digital equipment including cellphone cameras, digital cameras, microphones, etc.

The Office of the State Auditor uses the Merit-Based Recruitment and Selection Plan to fill positions subject to the State Human Resources Act (SHRA) with highly qualified individuals. Any information omitted from the application cannot be considered for qualifying credit.
