Reporting to the Chief of Development, the Communications Associate supports the Mission’s communications, outreach, and development initiatives. About the Rescue Mission of Trenton
The Rescue Mission of Trenton (RMOT) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving individuals who are experiencing homelessness, addiction, and poverty. We provide a safe, supportive environment and essential services that help people rebuild their lives with dignity. Key Responsibilities
Communication Lead
Manage and grow social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.)
Craft compelling narratives about clients, staff, and volunteers
Create fresh content for social media, press releases, email campaigns, and print materials
Assist in the creative design and editing of graphics, photography, and videos for communication pieces
Plan and implement engaging digital campaigns to increase engagement and visibility
Monitor analytics and adjust strategies that guide future performance
Actively collaborate with staff to share updates and successes across departments
Coordinate with media outlets and community partners to amplify our message
Maintain a consistent brand voice and style across all communication channels
Development Support
Support donor communications and stewardship activities
Assist in preparing materials and reports for funders and stakeholders
Maintain digital assets and communication calendars
Volunteer & Event Support
Assist in promoting and coordinating volunteer opportunities and engagement
Support the planning and execution of Mission events, including logistics, promotion, and follow-up
Provide support to the Development Department, including scheduling, proofreading, and data entry.
Coordinate relationship with the Grant Writer/consultant, establish Grant Meeting agendas, assist with grant editing/ research, writing, and reporting as needed.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field, or equivalent experience
1-3 years of relevant professional experience (nonprofit experience a plus)
Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills
Proficiency in social media platforms and basic graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite)
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a mission-driven environment
Commitment to the values and goals of the Rescue Mission of Trenton

Salary Range:

$45-50K
