Job Description The BD Communications team is focused on implementing strategic and innovative initiatives to further enhance the visibility of the Firm and its lawyers. The Sr. Coordinator, Communications works closely with members of the Firm’s Business Development & Communications Department on a wide range of profile-raising initiatives.
Primary Responsibilities and/or Essential functions:
Track and continuously monitor daily media coverage. Research, write, and distribute weekly “Weil in the News” newsletter. Research and write “View from the Top” newsletter and “Quarterly Benchmarking Report.” Work with Recruiting, Inclusion and other Administrative teams to produce timely, engaging communications supporting their objectives. Help write and disseminate Firm press releases and news items/deal announcements on a real-time basis. Maintain firm press lists to ensure communications are being sent to the appropriate contacts. Formulate ideas for both media and byline article pitches Collaborate with colleagues in developing integrated external communications plans to support strategic initiatives. Coordinate legal directory research. Act as a resource for all information relating to legal directories and legal research guides/ranking organizations. Schedule and coordinate attorney interviews with directories’ personnel. Tabulate results from directories and provide year-to-year analyses. Maintain calendar of upcoming deadlines. Research new opportunities for awards and rankings and act as a resource for that information. Partner with Business Development colleagues on developing content for various uses. Complete various research assignments relating to media coverage of particular topics as well as articles by various key reporters. Write award nominations, website announcements and text for other potential marketing and business development uses, as needed. Special projects as they occur or are needed. Additional related responsibilities as requested.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Substantive PR, communications or marketing experience, preferably in the legal industry. Excellent writing and verbal communications skills to interface with all levels at the firm. Articulate with strong influencing and persuasion skills and superior ability to collaborate cross functionally. Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills and the ability to handle and monitor multiple projects on a regular basis. Good understanding of media requirements and deadlines. Impeccable attention to detail and creative flair Understanding of website architecture, functionality and limitations Aptitude for understanding new technologies quickly. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, Adobe and other publishing software. Superior team player; positive attitude; high energy, drive, determination and collaborative nature. Previous experience working in a legal or professional services environment highly preferred.
Education/Certifications:
Bachelor’s degree required, High GPA preferred. Estimated salary range is $80,000 – $95,000. Compensation decisions within the range are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case including but not limited to the individual’s skills, experience, and qualifications.
