Manage and oversee the day-to-day operations of the telecommunications center. Monitors all radio traffic and relays pertinent information to BPS officers. Monitors the cameras for security breaches and reports all suspicious activities to the BPS officers. Utilizes the NCIC terminal for law enforcement support for the BPS officers. Coordinates with BPS division supervisors to ensure seamless communication with command staff, supervisory staff, and field officers. Documents property checks and all other law enforcement activities via the CAD, to include all calls for service. Maintains written logs of all activities when the CAD unavailable. Oversees the periodic review of the functionality of the panic alarms at the State House and logs the information for future reference. Performs regular inspections of the camera equipment in the State House Operations Center to ensure the equipment is functioning properly and reports all malfunctioning equipment to the proper personnel for maintenance. Gathers all preliminary schedules from each division and forwards them to BPS/HQ and Highway Patrol Dispatch. Provides assistance to the State House Sergeant to ensure that all BPS operational and enforcement documents are properly filed and maintained. Performs other related duties as assigned. Minimum and Additional Requirements State Minimum Requirements A high school diploma and journey-level work experience in the maintenance and repair of electronic communications equipment, in telecommunications or computer operations. An associate degree in a technical communications discipline may be substituted for the required experience. Agency Minimum Requirements Must possess a vast amount of skills and knowledge of the layout and operations of voice and data communications systems; knowledge of the practices and procedures used to operate a central switchboard and of appropriate FCC and other rules, regulations and policies. Must be able to train new personnel, radio dispatch personnel, and must be able to receive and transmit information by shortwave radio or teletype equipment. Must remain abreast of current telecommunication changes and upgrades to voice and data communications systems. Must be able to work with limited supervision; communicate effectively and establish and maintain a good working relationship with others. Must remain courteous and professional at all times while providing assistance to BPS personnel, public officials, state employees, and the general public. Must possess effective written and verbal communication skills; must be physically able to lift, bend and stand for prolonged periods of time. This individual may be required to work some weekends. Individual must have the ability to exercise professional discretion and work professionally with law enforcement and non-law enforcement personnel within working environment.
