Web Content Specialist 4.0 4.0 out of 5 stars 1200 West Montgomery Road, Tuskegee, AL 36088 Position Information Position Title Web Content Specialist Status Full Time Job Summary The Web Content Specialist supports the Web Manager in content development from concept through production and delivery. The position is responsible for assessing content opportunities, quality of content deliverables, and recommending content strategies that meet the university’s strategic goals and deliver excellent user experience. The Web Content Specialist will serve as the key liaison with other university communications staff, department heads and content managers in developing and managing the Content Management System (CMS). The position will support the timely, relevant, and current content for university’s public web presence to advance the university’s marketing communications strategies. The Web Content Specialist is involved with design, development, testing, implementation and enhancements to the university websites. Essential Job Duties Provide content support on interactive projects: from initial concepts to wireframes, briefs, content decks, editorial calendars, style guide, and ongoing content development Recommend a search optimization plan for content Research and understand university offerings and brand standards Manage the content and copy approval process Create a curatorial calendar for refreshing content across all platforms Analyze content opportunities and recommend strategies, interactions or approaches Work with Communications team and vendors where applicable in the creation of visual comps and other deliverables, and review creative with an eye toward content communication Manage multiple projects and ensure content tasks are completed in a timely manner Assist in presentations to create buy-in for recommended strategies and solutions Develop a content strategy document for the university, and competitive site analysis/Gap analysis Qualifications (Education, Experience and Specialized Training) Bachelor’s degree in communications, information technology, public relations, marketing, or related fields A minimum of three years of professional Web experience and/or training, preferably in a higher education setting Physical Demands Ability to operate standard office equipment Ability to walk short distances Ability to lift and carry parcels, packages and other items Ability to view a computer terminal

Understanding of current and future digital trends across all platforms

Skills:

Experience in content management systems as well as image editing/creation applications (e.g., Adobe Photoshop, Macromedia FreeHand, and/or Adobe Illustrator): HTML and JavaScript coding; Cascading Style Sheets (CSS); and related basic Web technologies experience with Content Management Systems, Web editors, HTML and information architecture Project-management skills Excellent customer-relations skills
