Job Summary The Student Web Assistant will support FGCU’s University Marketing & Communications team by assisting with website content updates, SEO enhancements, and digital quality assurance. This role is ideal for a student interested in digital marketing, communications, or design who is comfortable working on a computer and eager to learn how to manage and optimize content within a web content management system (CMS). Job Description Typical duties may include but are not limited to: Assist with content entry and updates on FGCU.edu using our web content management system (Modern Campus). Help ensure webpages follow SEO best practices, including clear headings, alt text for images, and keyword alignment. Review assigned areas of the website to identify and report outdated content, broken links, or formatting issues. Use digital tools to help monitor site quality and accessibility (e.g., broken link checkers, accessibility checkers). Run and help interpret basic reports in Google Analytics to monitor content performance. Collaborate with marketing and web team members using tools like Basecamp for task management.

Additional Job Description Required Qualifications:

Currently enrolled in a degree program in marketing, communication, digital media, design, or a related field. Preferred Skills (Not Required): Familiarity with search engine optimization (SEO) basics. Experience with graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Photoshop) or visual storytelling. Understanding of web content accessibility principles. Basic familiarity with content management systems (e.g., WordPress, Modern Campus).
