About the Role Ascend seeks a detail-oriented and technically savvy Publications Associate to join our Academic Operations team. This role plays a vital part in managing the operational workflows that drive the configuration, and distribution of our academic content. The role sits on our Schools Team, which is responsible for ensuring every student receives a high-quality education that unlocks a life of boundless choice. We do this by creating the conditions for excellence across our schools. As an integral facilitator on our team, the Publications Associate manages the full publication process by overseeing timelines, ensuring accuracy, maintaining version control and mastering the digital content platforms. This role works cross-functionally to ensure alignment and effective implementation of all components of the academic program, supporting seamless collaboration among content developers, school teams, and technical platforms. Content & Workflow Management Oversee the end-to-end workflow of instructional content development from initial draft through final publication. Design and implement operational systems for academic programming, with a focus on standardizing the development and publication of curriculum and assessments. Manage content intake, version control, formatting, and tracking through established workflows and digital systems. Project Management Act as a central point of coordination for cross-functional teams, ensuring alignment on timelines, deliverables, and objectives. Provide timely guidance and support to internal and external stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle. Platform Management Build and maintain expertise in digital tools used for curriculum creation and distribution (e.g., content management systems, learning platforms, publishing software). Configure and maintain instructional content in district-approved platforms, ensuring accuracy, accessibility, and user-friendliness. Troubleshoot technical issues and serve as the liaison between curriculum developers, platform/product teams, and educators. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred. 2-4 years of relevant experience in curriculum operations, educational publishing, or project management—ideally within a K-12 or academic setting. Proven ability to manage multiple content workflows, timelines, and stakeholders across cross-functional teams. Proficient in content management systems and digital tools such as Google Workspace and other education technology platforms. Demonstrated accuracy and consistency in managing version control, formatting, and content quality assurance. Skills and Traits Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage both strategic initiatives and day-to-day tasks with precision. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail and clarity in both content and process documentation. Comfortable navigating digital platforms, managing data in tools like Excel, and troubleshooting issues across systems. Effective at juggling competing priorities and problem-solving in a fast-paced, evolving environment. Self-directed and collaborative—able to work independently while contributing meaningfully to team goals and shared outcomes. Compensation Initial salary offers for this position range from $60,000 – $75,000. Salaries are determined using an equitable compensation scale that accounts for years of experience and levels of attained education.
