We are looking for an Insights & Analytics Analyst who is passionate about numbers, curious about player behavior, and excited to work in a dynamic, rapidly evolving industry where every insight counts. At the North Carolina Education Lottery, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate data into strategic recommendations that help drive growth and optimize lottery offerings. Responsibilities:
Assist in collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data related to player behavior, game performance, and sales trends across various lottery products. Provide insights into player demographics, purchasing patterns, and preferences to help improve product strategies and game design. Analyze historical data to identify patterns, trends, and opportunities for optimizing game offerings and promotional activities. Support the creation and maintenance of performance reports, dashboards, and visualizations to track key metrics (e.g., sales performance, player engagement, jackpot trends). Assist in conducting ad-hoc analysis for special projects, such as new game launches, promotional events, and category expansion initiatives. Collaborate with product development, e-Commerce, and sales teams to understand business needs and contribute to data-driven recommendations to enhance player engagement and maximize revenue. Ensure data accuracy and integrity by cleaning, organizing, and maintaining datasets related to ticket sales, promotions, player demographics, and other key business metrics. Support the development of reporting processes to ensure timely delivery of data insights to senior leadership and stakeholders. Stay up to date with industry trends, and modern technologies affecting the lottery industry, offering fresh perspectives on how to leverage data to stay competitive.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or a related field. Basic knowledge of data analysis techniques and tools (e.g., SAS Viya, Excel, SQL, Python, R, Power BI). Strong analytical mindset with a high degree of professional curiosity. Ability to clearly communicate complex data insights to non-technical stakeholders, especially product development and e-Commerce teams. Attention to detail and a keen interest in extracting insights from large datasets. Strong problem-solving abilities with a proactive attitude toward finding solutions. Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines. Previous experience in data analysis or the lottery industry is a plus.
Desirable Skills:
Experience with data visualization tools such as SAS Visual Analytics is a plus. Familiarity with SQL or similar database management systems for querying large datasets. Knowledge of statistical methods and analysis, with a particular focus on player behavior in the lottery industry. Understanding of the lottery industry is an advantage.
Hiring Rate:
$74,783 – $82,261 DOE (positions typically filled at or near the posted minimum)
