UnderwriterJob Description:

SUMMARY The SBA Underwriter evaluates loanapplications and other financial data and transforms it into aconcise, accurate report which can be utilized by the approvingauthority to make a credit decision on new and renewal SBA loans inaccordance with the Bank’s policies and procedures and SBA SOP.Senior SBA Underwriters are expected to be able to handle 70 dealassignments in a year and possess a higher level of knowledge offinancial analysis and SBA/Bank requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES ANDRESPONSIBILITIES

Ensure loan packages are materially complete.

Review credit and borrower information to determine loan programeligibility. Contact borrowers to gather and follow up oninformation needed to assist the underwriting decision. Interpretand analyze financial information from multiple sources, includingreporting services, credit bureaus, credit reports, and otherindustry data to make informed underwriting decisions. Review andanalyze customer information including leases, rent rolls, businessplans etc. to determine impact on credit underwriting. Review andanalyze legal documents, UCC search information, and title reportsto determine if additional information is necessary to fullyunderwrite the loan request. Review appraisal, environmental andother reports to identify risk areas and recommend mitigatingsolutions and next steps. Research, review and analyze industrydata, market studies, and competitive information. Review reportingand administrative covenants, and financial and non-financialcovenants to determine impact on the lending request. Determinefinancial and repayment analysis with a focus on cash flow,liquidity, leverage, debt service coverage to identify key risksand mitigating factors. Review and analyze the quality of thefinancial position for the business and the guarantor(s). Assessthe borrower’s ability to generate income sufficient to repayexisting and proposed debt. Perform financial analysis usingbusiness and guarantor financial statements, tax returns, cashflows and projections. Prepare complex credit memos for review andapproval. Prepare and issue commitment letters. Demonstrate asatisfactory understanding of and adherence to Bank operationalpolicies and applicable compliance regulations as they relate tothe specific job duties assigned. Demonstrate a satisfactoryunderstanding of your duties and responsibilities as it relates tothe Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering Act (AML),Patriot Act, and Office of Foreign Assets Control Regulations(OFAC). This includes participating in any required training andpromptly complying with all reporting requirements.

JOBREQUIREMENTS

Bachelors’ degree or equivalentfrom a four-year college or university. 5 years of relevantexperience. Experience should consist of financial analysis.

Knowledge of SBA 7(a) and 504 loan programs, appraisal real estatemethodology, cash flow and collateral analysis. Knowledge andunderstanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).Strong customer service skills with ability to communicateeffectively with customers via phone and email Excellent writtenand verbal communication skills. Excellent organizational skills.

Ability to perform detail oriented work with a high degree ofaccuracy. Ability to handle multiple priorities and tasks whileworking in a fast paced department. Proficiency with personalcomputers and related software. LI-Hybrid

COMPENSATION

SalaryRange:

$91,300 – $95,000 plus commissions. Amount is based onrelevant experience, skills and competencies.
