POSITION SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Marketing & Communications Director, the Communications Assistant is responsible for successfully assisting with the implementation of association’s comunications and marketing strategy including but not limited to online, mobile, social, email, display and digital content development and curation, as well as assisting with practical communications tasks. The Communications Assistant will be detail-oriented in maintaining brand compliance, and able to work on multiple projects in a fast-paced, high-volume environment with adherence to deadlines and task-management skills. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Schedule and program email communications and newsletters Receive and respond to website information requests and general inbox inquiries Assist with department mailings as needed Assist with template design and creation in LucidPress, as well as graphic design and creation of other collateral materials Communicate with new managers and directors about branding and communications policies, order business cards and other branded materials Assist with maintaining current information on association website; assist with website audit and migration Assist branches and association with social media content creation ideas and implementation Assists with monitoring Association Social Media channels and responding to inquiries and comments in a timely fashion (11 Facebook pages, 3 Instagram profiles, 3 Facebook Groups, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn) Maintain editorial standards and best practices including writing and proofreading support for branches and staff Assist with special events and promotions as needed, including YMCA Critz Tybee Run Fest Curate video and photo content as assigned Assist with other communications and development duties as assigned Assist in the overall retention and satisfaction of YMCA members through appropriate customer service Assist in the Annual Campaign fundraising program for the YMCA Maintain a positive and cheerful attitude with staff, peers, and program participants

QUALIFICATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing or English required. Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills including ability to compose content, write, and edit materials. Excellent diplomacy and relationship-building skills and ability to engage and influence a variety of diverse groups and individuals. Ability to be innovative, creative, and productive in a high-volume, multi-task environment. In-depth knowledge and use of social media platforms and analytics including Google products. In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
