Position Description The Graduate Assistant (GA) will work 20 hours per week and receive up to 24 credits of tuition and student fee waivers: 9 for fall, 9 for spring and 6 for summer. Overview
The Center for Inclusion and Equity (LGCIE) seeks a highly motivated and proactive graduate student to join our team. The Graduate Assistant (GA) will play a key role in supporting the professional staff who provide initiatives and programs aimed at promoting intercultural student success and persistence in line with the center’s mission under the supervision of the director. The GA is responsible for assisting with student success initiatives, marketing campaigns, website management, social media management, and other administrative and event-related tasks.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE
Student Success Initiatives
Provide support for the BSU Empowering Students Transition (B.E.S.T.) program and prepare program materials.
Work with the Admissions department and the center to recruit participants.
Co-supervise peer mentors for the B.E.S.T. program including weekly meetings, sharing effective undergraduate student retention strategies, and overseeing event planning and execution for the B.E.S.T. program.
Hold individual or group meetings with the B.E.S.T. participants to assess their success or need for additional support.
The Graduate Assistant will work with the Navigator to assist with academic support, programming, and outreach efforts, and share the LGCIE event calendar and event flyers to promote the center’s programs to students in their caseload.
Conduct research and compile data on retention strategies that can be tailored to support retention of BSU students. Marketing Outreach and Website Management
Assist in the development and execution of marketing strategies to promote LGCIE programs, resources, and events (flyers, TikTok, Facebook, video reels, Instagram & website posts).
Co-lead LGCIE marketing team and assign marketing tasks to student workers.
Compile and publish the weekly newsletter “This Week at LGCIE”.
Maintain and update the internal website with current information, photos, and events using Microsoft SharePoint. Student Engagement and Event Support
Engage with students to collect feedback and ideas for enhancing LGCIE programs and services.
Assist with planning and coordination of events, workshops, and outreach activities that support student success.
Help manage LGCIE event logistics, registration, and on-the-day- operations.
Other duties as assigned Preferred Qualifications Preferred Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree and current enrollment in a graduate program at Bridgewater State University.
Excellent verbal, written, and visual communication skills with a keen eye for details.
Experience designing flyers and newsletters using Canva.
Previous experience managing social media accounts (TikTok, Facebook, Instagram), including creating and posting content, status updates, and videos (reels) to engage university students.
Ability to maintain and update website content.
Previous involvement with and an understanding of providing student success initiatives and events for all students in a higher education setting.
Experience in leading, supervising, or supervising students.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite programs including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Forms, and Teams.
Strong organizational, time-management, and collaboration skills.
Ability to work some evenings and weekends.
Enrollment in higher education Marketing, Computer Science, Student Affairs, Counseling, Education, Social Work, or related master’s Programs. Physical Demands Typing and creating marketing materials.
