Located in Columbus, GA, this position plays a critical role in the creative process representing our brand, growing our audience, driving fan engagement, boosting ticket and merchandise sales, and building regional brand awareness. The ideal candidate is motivated by owning the creative process, seeing their ideas come to life, has experience growing social followings, understands the sports fan mindset, stays ahead of digital and cultural trends, and knows how to execute platform-specific strategies. Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across multiple departments are essential, as well as being able to articulate your plan and communicate results. This position works closely with Corporate and Merchandise Sales, Operations, Events, Ticketing, Video and Production to ensure that our fans are engaged and kept “in the know”. The Social Media and Marketing Manager will drive the vision and processes that shape how the River Dragons connect with fans and grow the brand.
Core Duties and Responsibilities:
This is an in-person position, attendance on nights and weekends, and possibly holidays, based on games scheduled is required Maintain, grow, and execute all aspects of social media, branding, and marketing for the Ignite Sports and Entertainment brands, increasing impressions, web traffic, and customer engagement metrics aligned with our broader marketing strategy Develop an optimal posting schedule and overarching calendar of all content, considering web traffic and customer engagement metrics, while overseeing the layout and direction of all social media accounts, as well as suggesting new, creative ways to attract prospective customers, such as promotions and competitions Research applicable current marketing and social media trends and tools to grow Ignite Sports and Entertainment’s media presence, post content on all relevant platforms for relevant brands, and encourage audience engagement Stay up to date with changes in all social media platforms, ensuring maximum effectiveness Plan out media and direct messaging, while developing relevant topics, setting subject guidelines, and managing all content, with the aid of other staff members and players in the organizations, where needed Create engaging creative text, images, and video content to be shared on social media and direct email and telecommunications platforms, as well as text blasts to customers and fans to create buzz around teams, products, and events Regularly monitor, interact, and respond to any messages, inquiries, or comments that need attention through social media with professionalism and positivity Report any issues, online information, or reviews and feedback to leadership, where necessary Define all important social media and marketing KPI’s and deliver weekly reports to leadership while providing feedback and direction on needs and next steps Own the brand and “Inspect what you expect” – Ensure all messages, logos (ours, other teams, sponsors, and relevant partners), and campaigns are correct prior to posting Attend in-person events, when and where needed, and create live social media content to drive engagement Maintain unified brand voice across different social media and marketing channels Contribute to all company aspects on an “as needed” basis
Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Attention to detail, accountability, critical thinking and collaboration is fundamental to success in this role A deep and always-evolving understanding of the social and marketing content strategy process, tools, and landscape A genuine passion for social media content creation and seeing your ideas come to life Strong writing, with excellent interpersonal communication and time management skills An innovative spirit, a hunger to experiment, and the ability to rally a team to pivot quickly if needed Be a pioneer and embrace new platforms and platform tools Exhibit grace under pressure with problem-solving skills to work on-the-fly and great people skills to engage our fan base An understanding of paid digital media on meta and/or google ads with and demographic targeting is a plus, as well as knowledge of paid search, SEO, keyword research and Google Analytics Familiarity with Mondays.com CRM platform (or similar) is beneficial Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Illustrator, etc), Canva, or other relevant graphic design programs Capacity to balance multiple projects, plans, and deadlines are necessary in this role Ability to deliver creative content (text, image/graphic, and video), via multiple technologies and tools through multiple technology means (i.e. mobile phone, computer, etc) Familiarity with web design and publishing Candidate must be able to stand and sit for prolonged periods of time and work indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions Required to be able to lift up to 25 lbs Applicant has to stand, walk, talk, listen, use hands, reach with arms and hands, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, and sit on occasions to execute the tasks of this position
Education and Formal Training:
Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or relevant field is preferred, but not required – Dedication to your craft is more significant than a degree The Social Media and Marketing Manager must maintain a flexible schedule, as attendance on nights and weekends, and possibly holidays, based on games scheduled is required.
