Full Job Description WANTED:
Are you a strategic thinker and gifted marketing writer who thrives in a fast-paced environment? Do you know how to translate complex topics into compelling stories, while building scalable processes that make marketing teams stronger? At Virtual, we’re looking for a Content Marketing Strategy Manager to lead content initiatives that raise awareness, strengthen brands, and drive engagement for mission-driven technology and industry associations. Preference for local candidates to work out of our Wakefield, MA office 3 days/week.
Who you are:
A content strategist who rolls up their sleeves-equally comfortable building messaging frameworks as you are writing a blog post, managing a LinkedIn calendar, or drafting a speaker bio. Fluent in digital storytelling across formats like white papers, blogs, social media, email, and video scripts. A strong collaborator who thrives in team environments where multiple hands contribute to client success. Confident posting content directly on behalf of clients and helping improve internal workflows. Curious and quick to learn, especially when navigating new technologies or industries. Here’s what you’ll do: Develop content strategies and editorial calendars in alignment with client goals and campaign objectives. Write and edit a range of content formats (e.g., blog posts, articles, web copy, newsletters, social media content, slide decks, and video scripts). Translate complex technical or industry-specific topics into accessible, engaging narratives tailored to business, executive, and technology audiences. Collaborate with client leads, subject matter experts, and designers to manage end-to-end content development. Help define and refine brand messaging platforms for clients, ensuring consistency and clarity across all communications. Develop social media plans and write client-facing posts, often managing/posting content across platforms. Track content performance and audience engagement with reporting tools to optimize future work. Innovate new content formats and ideas to increase engagement and reach. Build and document content processes to ensure quality, efficiency, and repeatability across teams. Contribute thought leadership pieces on behalf of clients, helping to position them as industry leaders. As our next Content Marketing Strategy Manager, you will bring: 6-8 years of content marketing, journalism, or digital storytelling experience, preferably in technology, B2B, or nonprofit sectors. Strong portfolio of writing samples (bylined, marketing copy, messaging framework, brand positioning/value proposition, or verified ghostwritten work). Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. Proficiency in using CMS platforms, social media tools (e.g., LinkedIn, Reddit, Instagram, BrandWatch), and project management software (Wrike, Asana, Monday, etc.). Understanding of SEO, content lifecycle, and digital performance metrics. The target hiring range for this role is $80,000 – $90,000 USD (annually). The starting base salary will be determined based on skills, experience, location, and other job-related factors. In addition, our total rewards package includes a robust medical, dental, and vision insurance plan (free option available for individuals); generous short- and long-term disability, supplemental life insurance, health care and dependent care, Flexible Spending Accounts, 401(k) savings match, paid parental leave, financial planning workshops, pre-paid legal plan, discretionary annual bonus and merit increase, and unlimited paid vacation time.
