Position Summary:
The Executive Director of Marketing is one of the most critical roles in our client’s Commercial organization. The position is highly collaborative and interacts with similar individuals across all functional areas within the commercial organization including manufacturing, government affairs, market access, sales and business operations. The position plays a crucial role in leading a cross-functional team in the development and execution of three-year strategic brand plans for our client’s flagship products. As the commercial strategic leader, the Executive Director of Marketing must possess a deep understanding of the pharmaceutical market dynamics and demonstrated the ability to maneuver within a dynamic, changing environment. The position leads all marketing activities and programs across the company’s business to ensure optimal performance. The Executive Director of Marketing must possess a deep understanding of the dynamics related to Specialty Pharmacy medications, with particular attention to helping healthcare practitioners (HCP’s) and their patients navigate acquisition of specialty products through this complex channel.
Specific Duties:
Leads the design of Brand strategies and the execution of Brand tactical plans in alignment with corporate objectives. Drives and approves all marketing strategies and plans including brand positioning in collaboration with cross-functional teams to realize maximal brand potential. Builds highly effective creative campaigns and communication tools that positively shape customer experiences and optimize brand benefits with HCPs and patients. Collaborates with Market Access team to develop tools and resources that aid in the trial, acquisition, and maintenance of specialty products. Collaborates with sales, market access, trade to develop HCP resources and tools to facilitate ease of office product acquisition. Collaborates with the Promotional Review Committee (PRC) team to ensure that all brand-related materials are scrutinized for medical validity and supported by brand labeling. Develops strong product branding based on product labeling. Generates customer insights through participation in both qualitative and quantitative market research programs. Builds strong, credible, collaborative relationships with key functional groups that include Sales, Medical Affairs, Development, Business Operations, Legal, Regulatory and Sales Training. Drives for timely, cost-effective execution in all tactical activities including market research, forecasting, product promotion and communications. Allocates Advertising & Promotional (A&P) budget to execute strongest tactical decisions and maximize brand value.
Skills:
Superior leadership skills that lead to the development of highly functioning strategic marketing organization. A deep understanding of specialty pharmaceutical market dynamics and stakeholders. A demonstrated ability to maneuver within a dynamic, changing environment. Ability to integrate input from key stakeholders and take a long-term view of brand strategies. Ability to efficiently manage agency partners to deliver high quality brand creative and market shaping tactics that effectively communicate brand benefits to HCPs and patients.
Experience/Education:
MBA degree, advanced degree or continued education in marketing or finance preferred. 15+ years of pharmaceutical industry marketing or related experience (including sales, finance, forecasting, market research). Must have at least 3 years’ experience as a senior marketing leader in brand management. Specific marketing experience for specialty brands with complex acquisition processes. Prior experience in and collaboration with sales, sales management and/or managed care is essential.
