Initially founded in 1988 as the Ardmore Main Street Program, Ardmore Initiative has served the community as a Municipal Authority since 1993, empowered by Lower Merion Township and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to perform supplementary public service duties. These duties often include public space improvements, business services, community event programming, and brand development. Its long-term vision for Downtown Ardmore is to create a welcoming, walkable, and inclusive community that offers a vibrant business mix, including family-friendly, independent and national retail stores, and service businesses.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The purpose of this position is to oversee the advancement of the Ardmore Initiative brand, in accordance with the 2025-2030 strategic plan. The Marketing and Events Coordinator will administer all organizational social media accounts, website updates, public emails, and more. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in office administration, graphic design, event production, time management, social media management, media relations, and a passion for fostering community development.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Manage Ardmore Initiative’s social media presence, crafting original and engaging content across platforms including X (formerly Twitter), Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok. Lead the implementation of key elements from the 2025-2030 Ardmore Initiative Strategic Plan, including the launch of its upcoming Marketing and Branding Plan. Manage the creation of annual publications and print marketing materials including press releases, annual reports, and business attraction handouts. Drafting the biweekly Merchant Memos, monthly Ardmore Agenda, and other special emails Overseeing and advancing a clear, concise brand identity for Ardmore Initiative. Co-chair the Ardmore Initiative Marketing Committee. Plan and execute various events in Downtown Ardmore. These may include Fall for Ardmore, Winter Wonderland, Ardmore Community Dinner, First Fridays, and Ardmore Restaurant Week. Identify, research, and spotlight small business owners and their contribution to the Ardmore Community. These spotlights will be shared on AI’s website, newsletters, and other communication channels Oversee website management, including making updates to AI’s virtual events calendar.
NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
3+ years’ experience performing the duties listed above The ideal candidate is familiar with Downtown Ardmore and is interested in supporting its success. They will additionally understand the vital role social media plays in creating an engaged, relevant community brand. An understanding of nonprofits, Main Street, and Business Improvement Districts is preferred. Be very familiar with X (formerly Twitter), Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok. Be able to take high quality photos of the District. The ideal candidate is personable, creative, entrepreneurial, organized, and capable of working independently. Candidate should possess excellent oral and written communication skills. Proficiency in MS Office applications, as well as working knowledge of basic graphic design programs such as Canva and e-newsletter programs such as Mailchimp are preferred as well.
