MEMORIAL AUDITORIUM JOB DESCRIPTION MARKETING MANAGER

This is an administrative position assisting the Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium Director of Marketing with the related duties of the Marketing Department. The work involves developing marketing and advertising campaigns for sale of tickets to events, sale of event sponsorships, Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium video and signage advertising, and coordinating regional public relations for the Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium . The work is performed on a varied work schedule under the direction of the Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium Director of Marketing.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

1. Responsible for all promotion, publicity and public relations for the Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium with the general public and the area news media. 2. Serves as media spokesperson for the Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium as directed by the Director of Marketing. 3. Works with lessees on advance publicity and promotion of events to maximize attendance and ticket sales. 4. Prepares and distributes press kits, fact sheets, press releases, event schedules, brochures and other promotional materials on a timely basis. Maintains social media pages and SMA website with updates and posts as directed by supervisor. 8. Assists in the development and management of the marketing department budgets. 9. Coordinate public relations and marketing strategies with the Director of Marketing to effectively promote and market Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium events. 10. Establish and maintain positive relationships with all news media for effective placement of story ideas. 11. Arrange interviews with entertainers and facility representative as requested by the news media. 12. Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Marketing.

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS

1. Ability to design and write press kits, press releases, brochures and other promotional materials. 2. Considerable knowledge of public relations and advertising techniques. 3. Ability to handle VIP visitors and important clients including performers. 4. Considerable knowledge of methods for coordinating media coverage, press conferences and general press relations with the news media. 6. Highly developed interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, including proven ability to speak well in public. 7. Ability to understand, read and interpret media rating services to insure proper market segments are targeted and correct media purchases are made to maximize advertising budgets. 8. Considerable knowledge of all forms of social media and website design/maintenance.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

Graduation from an approved college or university with a major in marketing, public relations, journalism or business administration. A minimum of two years’ experience in a public relations position with visibility and creativity is desirable. Experience in social media, writing, layout and graphic design, public speaking, sales, media relations, promotions and work at or with an advertising agency are highly desirable. Other equivalent combination of training and experience may be substituted for education.
