JOB SUMMARY
This position is responsible for assisting the Downtown Development Director with marketing the downtown development initiatives within the central business district. Under supervision of the Downtown Development Director, the employee works with the Downtown Development Authority (DDA) to assist with program objectives, such as community education, formulation of policies, and the development of marketing strategies for those areas. This program will be designed to promote, enhance, conserve, monitor, and improve downtown. Additionally, this position will offer support programming for downtown businesses.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to communicate with large groups and maintain professional presence at all times. Ability to manage multiple projects, set priorities and perform duties with little to no direct supervision. Proficiency in Microsoft applications. Knowledge of web development software, Canva, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Quark, Dreamweaver, and/or other design programs is a plus. Ability to think critically and recognize sensitive political situations and act accordingly. Knowledge of administration, budgeting and basic accounting. Knowledge of the principles and techniques of planning, development and historic preservation. Skill in gathering and analyzing statistical data. Skill in oral and written communications and the ability to be poised, diplomatic and tactful in all relations with internal and external clients of the Office of Downtown Development. Skill in organizing events that market and promote the downtown Central Business District. Skill in public relations and marketing. Thorough knowledge of the relevant City Codes, state and federal laws governing downtown development and historic preservation.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Degree in Business Management, Public Administration, Public Relations, Communications, Business, Marketing, Political Science, or closely related field. Five years’ experience in event planning and marketing. The position requires the ability to work on the weekends to staff events when necessary. Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license from state of residency. Must be able to obtain NIMS 100 and 700 within 3 months of employment.
