Job Description:

The Role Are you interesting in joining a dynamic, innovation focused, high impact team? Do you enjoy building new products and services in a collaborative, fast paced environment? Join Fidelity Labs, our in-house new business incubator, as the Founding VP of Engineering for an early-stage SaaS platform targeted at Charitable sector. In this role, you will be responsible for architecting, building, and scaling the technical foundation of a modern SaaS solution. Building the management capabilities of investments, grants, and compliance needs within the platform. You will be hands-on with code from day one, moving fast from 0-1, and will play a critical role in shaping the technical vision, roadmap, and execution. You will collaborate closely with product, design, and other technical teams within Labs to deliver rapid iterations and robust integrations with other large, complex systems. As the Founding VP of Engineering, you will: Write production-quality code and lead by example as a hands-on technical leader. Rapidly take the product from 0-1, iterating quickly in ambiguous and evolving environments. Design and architect scalable, secure, and maintainable systems that integrate with other large, complex platforms (internal and external). Own and drive the technical roadmap, breaking down complex problems and setting technical strategy. Be an expert at rapid technical iteration, prototyping, and learning from user feedback. Build and lead the initial engineering team, and eventually scale and manage a large technical organization (including hiring, mentoring, and managing sprint planning, delivery, and technical operations). Collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, and other engineering teams to deliver a best-in-class SaaS experience for charitable foundations. The Expertise and Skills You Bring Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience. 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with a proven track record of building and scaling SaaS products from the ground up. Demonstrated ability to write high-quality, production code in modern languages and frameworks. Deep experience designing and integrating with large, complex systems and APIs. Comfort with ambiguity and a bias for action in fast-paced, early-stage environments. Experience building and leading high-performing engineering teams, including hiring, mentoring, and managing technical delivery. Strong communication skills and ability to translate technical requirements for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
