The Director, MyBlock will be instrumental in driving innovation and growth through the MyBlock app. This comprehensive App is designed to facilitate the relationship between H&R Block and our clients as they manage their taxes and finances throughout the year. Key features include tax preparation and filing, professional assistance, document management, refund tracking, mobile banking, and financial tools. The app aims to make tax season less stressful and help clients stay organized year-round. This high-profile role will work extensively with a wide range of senior business and functional leaders across the organization. This role will also own the Tax Prep App which services our DIY clients with a tailored app experience. We’re in the middle of an exciting transformation with our Apps and the roles they play at H&R Block. This role will be critical in leading this transformation.

Role Summary:

The Director, MyBlock will lead the product management and development teams responsible for H&R Block’s MyBlock app. This role requires an experienced leader in digital product management and deep expertise in building mobile app with a strong focus on delivering innovative solutions that enhance the client experience and drive business growth. The Director will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the MyBlock app aligns with H&R Block’s strategic goals and meets the needs of our clients. Day-to-day you’ll:

Strategic Leadership:

Develop and implement product strategies for the MyBlock app that align with H&R Block’s overall business objectives. Lead cross-functional teams to drive strategic initiatives and ensure successful product launches. Collaborate with senior leadership to define the product roadmap and prioritize features based on client needs and market trends.

Product Development:

Oversee the entire product lifecycle, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality features. Manage the development and enhancement of the MyBlock app, focusing on user experience, performance, and scalability. Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify opportunities for innovation and improvement.

Team Management:

Lead, mentor, and develop a team of product managers. Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within cross-functional squads, ensuring effective communication and coordination between team members and other departments.

Client Focus:

Advocate for the needs of MyBlock app users, ensuring their feedback is incorporated into product development. Monitor user engagement and satisfaction, using data-driven insights to inform product decisions. Work closely with the marketing and customer support teams to ensure a seamless client experience.

Financial and Performance Management:

Develop and manage the budget for the MyBlock app, ensuring efficient allocation of resources. Track and report on key performance metrics, including user growth, engagement, and revenue. Identify and capitalize on opportunities to monetize the MyBlock app, enhancing client value and driving revenue growth. What you’ll bring to the team… Bachelor’s degree in business, computer science, or a related field. 10+ years of overall business experience building and leading teams in product management with increasing levels or responsibility. 8+ years of experience as a product leaders building mobile apps. 5+ years of people management experience. Proven track record of leading successful product teams and delivering high-impact products. Strong understanding of user experience design, agile development methodologies, and data analytics. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to think strategically and execute methodically in a fast-paced environment. Experience in managing budgets and financial performance. Knowledge of emerging technologies and trends in mobile app development. Strong analytical, experimentation, and problem-solving skills. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make data-driven decisions. Experience in the financial services or tax preparation industry is preferred but not required. Pay Range Information The pay range for this position is listed below. Local minimum wage laws apply. Successful candidates may be able to participate in one or more incentive compensation or short-term incentive plans, which could generate additional earnings in accordance with the terms of each plan.
