Since 1966, the Capitol Region Education Council (CREC) has been dedicated to providing innovative, high-quality, and cost-effective educational programs and services to meet the diverse needs of children and adults in Greater Hartford. Serving 33 member districts and reaching additional communities statewide, CREC supports approximately 12,000 students annually through more than 120 educational programs. Our offerings include professional learning and coaching for educators, specialized programming for students with diverse needs, and PreK-12 education across 16 interdistrict magnet schools. Additionally, CREC provides school construction, operations, and cooperative business services, while also delivering programs that help adults build real, job-ready skills.

POSITION SUMMARY

: The Digital Media Specialist plays a key role in shaping and amplifying CREC’s identity across digital platforms through compelling visual storytelling, with a strong focus on photography and video. This role partners with internal teams to develop creative concepts, storyboard ideas, and deliver high-impact visual content that supports CREC’s communications, marketing, and outreach goals. The Specialist also manages video production from planning to post-production, ensures brand consistency, and supports digital advertising and social media campaigns.

ESSENTIAL

DUTIES and

RESPONSIBILITIES

: Duties/Responsibilities Capture and produce professional-quality photo and video content to support CREC’s initiatives, programs, schools, and events. Manage the full video production process—from concept development, scriptwriting, and filming to editing and publishing. Plan and execute marketing video projects, including event documentation, recruitment campaigns, social and mass media advertising, and training videos. Collaborate with internal teams to develop creative briefs, set timelines, and manage production schedules. Ensure consistency in messaging, branding, and visual identity across all multimedia content. Manage digital advertising creative (photo/video assets) for social media, web, and YouTube campaigns. Provide video and photo consultation to CREC schools, partner districts, grantees, and external clients as needed. Analyze performance of multimedia content (especially on social platforms) and optimize future projects accordingly. Stay current with digital media trends, tools, and best practices to ensure CREC’s visual content remains fresh and engaging. Work closely with the Director of Communications and team members to align content creation with broader communications strategies. Maintain a library of visual assets for various projects. QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree and/or five years of related experience and/or training in digital production, communications, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Proficiency with digital media creation platforms (i.e., Adobe Creative Suite—Premiere Pro and After Effects, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci, etc.) Proficient in professional photography and videography equipment, including cameras, lenses, lighting setups, audio gear, and stabilization tools; skilled in both natural and studio lighting techniques. 3+ years of experience in digital media production with a strong portfolio in photography and video. Experience using video and social analytics tools (i.e., YouTube Studio, Meta Business Suite, Google Analytics). Familiarity with content management systems (WordPress or equivalent) and social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube). Skilled in managing multiple projects, meeting deadlines, and delivering high-quality work in a fast-paced environment. Strong visual storytelling ability and understanding of brand identity. Experience with client collaboration and vendor coordination.

Bonus:

Experience with livestreaming, animation/motion graphics, drone photography, software development, and/or graphic design.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS 30-50
