Indian River State College is looking for a creative and student-centered Part-Time Retention Content Specialist to help engage and inspire students through compelling digital content. In this role, you’ll craft social media posts, highlight student success stories, support retention campaigns, and collaborate with multiple departments to promote a sense of belonging. JOB SUMMARY
Under general direction, this supports student engagement and success by creating strategic, student-centered content that promotes a sense of belonging and encourages persistence. Collaborate with the Chief Retention Officer, Marketing, and Student Success to develop and share key messages supporting initiatives such as registration campaigns, tutoring services, and student storytelling. Responsibilities include managing content calendars, capturing real-time media at campus events, monitoring engagement across platforms, and supporting student-led content. Tracks performance metrics, contributes to retention-focused communication strategies, and highlights student support services through digital content that aligns with IRSC’s brand and tone.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES
Create engaging, student-focused content on belonging, connection, and academic support. Collaborate with the Chief Retention Officer, Marketing team, and Student Success to promote services and key messages. Support persistence campaigns like registration reminders, tutoring promotions, and peer storytelling. Manage organic content calendars and capture real-time content at campus events. Monitor and respond to messages and engagement across platforms. Assist in managing takeovers and student-created content. Track engagement and content performance using platform insights and reports. Support content strategy tied to retention milestones and communications plans. Highlight success stories, services, and academic support programs through reels, graphics, and copy. Attend campus events to film, photograph, or interview students and staff. Support peer-focused campaigns or series developed by the Retention and Marketing teams. Assist with feedback collection and engagement reporting. Contribute creative ideas that align with Indian River State College’s tone and visual identity. Complete all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma or equivalent, some college preferred Minimum one (1) year of graphic design experience and three (3) years with social media. Demonstrated knowledge of current social trends, student culture, and a passion for student success. Experience creating and managing content on platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and others Ability to develop and execute creative social media strategies aligned with student engagement and retention goals Familiarity with digital tools such as Canva, CapCut, or Adobe Creative Suite preferred Strong interpersonal and written communication skills with the ability to engage a varied student population Ability to work independently and meet deadlines while coordinating with multiple departments Flexibility to attend campus events and capture content when needed Knowledge of current social trends, student culture, and a passion for student success Ability to maintain professionalism and positively represent Indian River State College
