Social Media Specialist 3.9 3.9 out of 5 stars 833 Montlieu Ave, High Point, NC 27262 As High Point University’s Social Media Specialist, you’re passionate about combining brand promotion with the latest social trends and enjoy cracking the latest algorithms to leverage brand reach. You find yourself constantly brainstorming the next great video or photo opportunity to garner attention, and you look for opportunities to amplify HPU social media to the benefit of recruiting new students. This position is responsible for creating social media content that enhances the university’s online presence, engages with current and prospective students, alumni and stakeholders, and contributes to overall marketing and communication goals. This role combines creativity, content creation, data-driven strategic thinking, customer support and technical expertise to effectively manage HPU’s social media platforms.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education Bachelor’s degree required Experience and Training Minimum 1-3 years of experience in social media, marketing, strategic communication, sales or similar field.
Knowledge, Skills, Ability:
Strong writing and editing skills with an understanding of social media voice and tone. Proficiency in using social media management tools and analytics platforms. Creative mindset with the ability to think strategically and bring a constant flow of ideas and new approaches, never settling for “what’s been done before.” Exceptional organizational and time management skills. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively within a team Strong knowledge of content calendars, marketing plans, spelling, grammar, punctuation, copy editing and effective writing required Ability to storyboard and edit videos for social Strong creator of effective marketing materials Adaptable and willing to quickly change content or create new content Serves as a positive OOC representative to constituent groups across, including organizations or department looking to create their own social media accounts Plans ahead, meets deadlines and organizes work flow Balances multiple campaigns for multiple audiences Unmatched attention to detail and organizational skills Performs under stressful situations and deadlines
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Promotes and champions HPU daily through positive and engaging content, always prioritizing the university’s best interests. Creates, curates, and schedules compelling and visually appealing content for various social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, and TikTok. Develops a content calendar that aligns with the university’s brand and messaging. Oversees HPU’s admissions social media channels along in addition to the primary social accounts Engages with the HPU community and broader audience through active monitoring, responding to comments, and fostering meaningful conversations. Encourage user-generated content and collaborate with influencers and brand advocates. Stays current with social media trends, platform updates, and best practices to ensure that HPU’s social media strategies remain innovative and effective. Gathers content as needed by attending campus events and observing day-to-day activity for chances to showcase and promote the university Writes captions that are topically appropriate Interviews students, alumni and parents to create compelling content Continuously evaluates the data and performance social campaigns Maintains positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating effectively with students, parents, faculty, co-workers and managers Other duties as assigned
