Position Summary:
The Digital Literacy Technology Specialist supports Martha O’Bryan Center’s community-facing computer lab as part of the Digital Literacy Grant initiative. The Technology Specialist is responsible for delivering digital literacy workshops, assisting community members with basic computer skills, maintaining lab functionality, and supporting program outreach and participation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Lead group workshops and one-on-one sessions on topics such as basic computer use, internet safety, email setup, Microsoft Office tools, and online job search. Provide assistance to clients navigating digital tools and completing digital tasks. Resolve minor computer or software issues. Engage community members and encourage participation in digital literacy classes. Maintain computer lab equipment and supplies in accordance with MOBC policy. Assist with participant tracking, attendance records, and other grant-related documentation as directed. Make follow-up calls to clients. Assist in recruiting families for our Family Success Network.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.
Education and Experience :
Bachelor’s degree in education, social work, technology, or a related field. Experience coordinating educational programs, preferably in digital literacy. Experience with online learning platforms and virtual instruction. The above qualifications express the minimum standards of education and/or experience for this position. Other combinations of education and experience, if evaluated as equivalent, may be taken into consideration.
Knowledge and Abilities:
Passion for working with underrepresented communities. Computer literate including familiarity with word processing, spreadsheet, database, desk top publishing software, email and the internet. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong interpersonal skills; excellent customer service skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Maintains credibility through sincerity, honesty, and discretion. Builds and maintains positive relationships with internal and external constituents. Strong organizational skills.
