Administrative Job Summary East Tennessee State University’s Department of Military Science is seeking a highly qualified individual to serve as the primary administrative support and Chief of Staff for its ROTC program. This role is pivotal in providing guidance on policies and procedures, interpreting and enforcing Army regulations, and addressing cadet personnel matters across ETSU’s ROTC program and its four extension units spanning two states. The position provides comprehensive support to cadets-including mental health, financial, morale and welfare, and academic counseling-requiring a strong understanding of their needs to effectively support their personal and professional development. It also requires staying up to date with evolving Army regulations and federal laws to ensure compliance and effective program operations. The value of employment at ETSU goes far beyond salary. Knowledge of ETSU and Army policies and procedures.
Knowledge of organizational structure of higher education.
Knowledge of academic degree requirements.
Knowledge of ETSU systems including, but not limited to: Banner, GoldLink, TRS, Argos, Acalog, adjunct faculty and graduate assistant contract systems.
Knowledge of computers and Microsoft applications, including word processing and spreadsheets.
Knowledge of student hiring processes.
Ability to provide excellent customer service.
Ability to work with minimal supervision, meet deadlines, work under pressure, solve problems, make decisions and accept responsibility accordingly, and communicate effectively.
Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality.
Ability to prioritize workload and apply skills to accomplish objectives.
Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree plus two (2) years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
