Lieutenant I (#014500) Manning Rentry/Work Release Center, Columbia (RICHLAND) Level 1 2.9 2.9 out of 5 stars Richland County, SC Job Responsibilities Supervises security staff at a minimum-security facility; prepares work schedules and issues duty assignments. Supervises maintenance of all records pertaining to leave and/or training for security staff. Makes sanitation, safety, and security inspections of all buildings, building contents, grounds, and vehicles within scope of duties. Administers appropriate disciplinary action to inmates for rule Infractions, to include removal from a minimum-security institution. Studies and remains thoroughly familiar with current operational and administrative directives. Investigates complaints and violations; arbitrates disputes among the inmate population and correctional staff. Prepares and submits written operational and administrative reports. Conducts security inspections/shakedowns for contraband control. Ensure all subordinate employees under your supervision have read, acknowledged understanding, and /or been trained in those policies, procedures, post orders, or other directives applicable to their job. Must successfully complete eight (8) week SCDC Basic Training upon hire. Minimum and Additional Requirements State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements:
A high school diploma and relevant experience. A bachelor’s degree in a related field may substitute for the required experience.
SCDC Minimum Requirements:
(Or an acceptable equivalency as approved by the Division of State Human Resources.) Three (3) years of experience in correctional, security, military, or police work to include one (1) year of supervisory experience. A degree in criminal justice or a related degree may substitute for supervisory experience year for year (associate and above = 1 year). Must be certified by the SCDC training academy and successfully complete the basic supervisory course within six (6) months of entry into the position.
