Summary:

The Operations Sergeant acts as the senior enlisted advisor to the Director of Army Instruction (DAI). Oversees the daily administration of the DAI Office. Maintains and updates the JROTC Standard Operating Procedures. Monitors execution of the JROTC Inspection Program, Program of Instruction, and Curriculum. Plans and conducts instructor training workshops, and ensures that curriculum publications and materials are up-to-date, and on hand. Plans and conducts JROTC competitions, ceremonies, and boards. Responsible for the JROTC awards program. Coordinates the JROTC Cadet Leadership Challenge (Summer Camp).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Acts as the senior enlisted advisor to the Director of Army Instruction.
Oversees the routine, daily administration of the DAI office.
Assists the DAI in implementing the JROTC Inspection Program, Program of Instruction, and Curriculum.
Assists the DAI in enforcing JROTC standards, policies, and procedures.
Assists the DAI with validation of curriculum instruction.
Plans and conducts instructor professional development workshops.
Ensures that training materials and publications are current and on hand.
Plans, coordinates, and executes JROTC competitions, ceremonies, and boards.
Coordinates community support activities.
Manages reports.
Visits the JROTC units and inspects as directed by the DAI.
Meets Army appearance, height, weight, and physical fitness standards. Performs other duties as directed by the DAI.
Observes both the military and school chain of command.
Abides by US Army rules and regulations

Essential Functions/Qualifications/Requirements:
Education and Experience:

Must be a retired Army Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO) in the grade of E-8 or E-9. Must be Cadet Command certified as a JROTC Instructor. Marksmanship Instructor certification is preferred, and 2 years experience as a JROTC Instructor is preferred. An associate’s degree with evidence of progress toward a bachelor’s degree is preferred.
