Position Summary
Leads and directs the mission and vision of the

Center:
Mission:

To advance leadership education, training, and character development within Marion Military Institute and the Corps of Cadets through the execution of curricular, (co)-curricular, and extra-curricular programs. To supervise MMI’s 1st Responder and Aviation Programs, critical-thinking skills and general soft skills development.

Vision:

The Center for Leadership and Career will be recognized as the leadinganization within the ACCS for the advancement of student leadership and character development. Additionally, through MMI’sprehensive approach to learning, the Center will serve to advance workforce development initiatives and soft skills development. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
In addition to adhering to general policies and guidelines specified by the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees and the MMI Faculty/Staff Handbook, the successful candidate will also perform the following duties:
Responsible for MMI’s Honor and Respect Character Education Program to include: Administrative and operational support in the conduct of the Cadet Honor Council and MMI’s Leaders Club.
Coordination and scheduling of the distinguished guest speaker program.
Develop, lead and assess leadership and character education exercises, activities and instruction. Responsible for the implementation of assessment strategies to measure leadership and character development to include, but not limited to: MMI’s Cadet Assessment Program.
MMI’s Honor and Respect Character Education Program.
MMI’s Service-Learning Program.
Manage the development, modernization, maintenance and utilization of MMI’s Leadership Development Complex. Theplex consists of a leadership reaction course (LRC), military obstacle course, and rappel tower. Thisplex is located on the MMI campus. Develop and manage MMI’s 1st Responder Development Program epassing Fire, Emergency Medical Service and Law Enforcement training and certification opportunities. Develop and manage MMI’s Aviation Program epassing different pathways tomercial pilot careers. Develop, implement, and manage MMI’s internship/mentorship program. In keeping with MMI’s proud tradition of service, the initial focus of the program will be to establish opportunities for cadets to engage with representatives of local, state, and federal agencies, as well as constituents within the private sector, in the disciplines of public safety and emergency management (such as law enforcement, firefighting, and emergency medical response). Coordinate MMI cadet attendance at regional and national leadership seminars and conferences.
Oversee MMI’s AF ROTC collaboration with the University of Alabama and USMC Platoon Leaders Class with the Tuscaloosa Officer Selection Office.
Perform other duties and tasks as assigned by MMI’s executive leadership.
Supervises 2 full time and 2 part time employees and serve as the college’s contracting representative overseeing our supporting flight training contract.
Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

20-years of military experience; grade/rank of 05 (Lieutenant Colonel/Commander maritime equivalent) or higher.
Demonstrated leadership skills, character, professional conduct and performance.
Demonstrated experience in leadership positions.
Master’s degree in higher education, student personnel administration, business administration, international relations, or other relevant social science disciplines.
Experience in operational and strategic planning and execution. Competency in the use of Microsoft Officeputer software. Possesses the temperament and skills to effectively engage with students, faculty, and staff to achieve the desired institutional oues. Must pass a State of Alabama background check. Must have a background in Aviation as a rated military,mercial or private pilot (preferred) or in senior management related to aviation maintenance.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience in military higher education as a member or proportionate experience within student affairs/development at the director level or above.
A terminal degree in relevant academic disciplines as noted above. An understanding and appreciation for the Honor System specific to military higher education.
Experience in the development of educational initiatives to advance student success and career opportunities within business, industry, state and federalernment, and the military.
Experience in the assessment of leadership and character development initiatives.
Possess a conceptual understanding of the Full Range Leadership Model.
CFII and MEI certification.
FAA Part 107 certification.
Experience as an aviation ground school instructor.
Experience in aviation maintenance; maintenance contract management.

SALARY:

Salary Schedule C2, $77,611-94,704; based on relevant education and experience.
