The Department of Theatre at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga welcomes applications for a full-time, 9-month, tenure-track position as an Assistant Professor of Acting/Directing beginning August 1, 2025. Salary is $60,000 plus benefits. The Department of Theatre is a NAST accredited program offering a B.A. in Theatre, with concentrations in Acting, Directing, Design/Technology, Education, and Entrepreneurship. Duties include teaching acting classes, teaching advanced classes for theatre majors (i.e. Theatre History, Directing, Musical Theatre), teaching general education courses (i.e. Introduction to Theatre), directing one to two productions each year, and serving on departmental and university committees.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
MFA in Acting or Directing is required.
The successful candidate will be able to teach acting and direct one or two shows each year.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to candidates who have experience successfully directing musicals.
Evidence of success in acting, directing, musical theatre, academic service (committees, administrative duties).
Ability to work in a collaborative environment is desired.
Prior teaching at the university level.
