Job Description The Association Dance Director is responsible for overseeing and directing the YMCA of Greater St. Petersburg’s Dance Program. Responsible for scheduling, curriculum development, hiring of teachers, classroom instruction, choreography and the management, direction and evaluation of dance staff. Qualifications 1. Advanced degree in dance with extensive experience or equivalent work experience as a dance educator, professional performer and/or choreographer 2. Proven leadership in teaching, dance administration and production practices 3. Professional performance experience and a strong knowledge of trends and practices of dance education and dance performance 4. Demonstrated ability to successfully staff and manage a team; leading by example with the highest level of professionalism and ethics 5. Experience with establishing and maintaining positive, collaborative relationships with administrators, dancers, students and parents. 6. Demonstrated ability to create a positive and nurturing learning environment that inspires excellence and a commitment to achieving goals 7. Strong organization, assessment, planning and teambuilding skills with the ability to work cooperatively with different types of personalities to achieve a shared goal. Essential Functions 1. Responsible for overseeing all operations of the dance program including classes, staff, schedules, competition team, performance, etc. 2. Responsible for teaching dance classes both competitive and recreational and private lessons 3. Oversee operations for Competition Dance Team. 4. Create and implement dance curriculum, oversees instructional content and provides resources for dance staff 5. Create class schedule, handbook, and fee structure each season 6. Create social media content and run dance social media pages (Facebook and Instagram) 7. Create monthly newsletter/email to dance families with important program information 8. Organize Bravo Event, including securing venue, lineup, handbook, costumes, tech sheets, dressing room assignments, teacher assignments, etc. 9. Responsible for hiring, evaluating and terminating staff as needed 10. Responsible for administrative duties such as program registration, budget, ordering supplies and costumes, attendance, program communications
