EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education, coursework includes instrumental techniques, teaching methods, music theory, conducting, and student teaching
- Teacher Certification
- Master’s Degree is NOT required, but beneficial
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Proficiency on a primary instrument, adequate skills on a secondary instrument, and general knowledge of fingering proper production for ALL band instruments
- Strong conducting and leadership skills
- Classroom management teaching strategies for middle school students
- Knowledge of curriculum development, lesson planning, and state standards
- Ability to organize concerts, Florida Bandmasters Association Concert Band and Solo & Ensemble Music Performance Assessments, various school and city functions
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skill for working with students, parents, and colleague
JOB EXPERIENCE
- Previous teaching experience at the middle school level
