The University of Miami Athletic Band Program is seeking a dedicated and skilled Drumline Instructor to join our team. This position involves leading the development and performance of the drumline and pep band drummers, ensuring high standards of musical excellence and University brand engagement at all engagements. Key Responsibilities Development of the
Athletic Band Drumline and Pep Band Drummers:

Organize and Lead Band Camp Sessions:
- Plan and conduct intensive training sessions for drumline members during band camp.

Conduct Regular Drumline Sectionals:
- Lead focused rehearsals for the drumline during regular band practices.

Oversee Drumline and Pep Band Drummers During Events:
- Supervise drumline and pep band performances at university athletics games and other events.
- Maintain Integrity of the
Drumline:
- Monitor attendance and ensure consistent growth and development of drumline members.
Writing the Drumline Book for the 2025
Band Season:

Create and Arrange Music:
- Develop and arrange musical repertoire for the drumline.
- Amend/edit parts as needed to ensure high performance standards for varied ability levels
- Develop warm-ups geared toward the development of varying levels of performers

Ensure Performance Standards:
- Maintain high performance standards and meet the requirements of the athletic band program.
Management and Maintenance of Drumline Inventory:

Inventory Management:
- Keep an accurate and up-to-date inventory of all drumline equipment.

Equipment Maintenance:
- Ensure all instruments and equipment are properly maintained and in good working condition. Recruitment and Retention

Recruitment:
- Outreach to schools and communities.
- Audition and try-out management.

Retention:
- Foster a positive team culture.
- Provide development opportunities.
Duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications :

Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Music or Music Education, preferred.

Experience:
- Proven experience in drumline development, instruction and leadership.
- Strong background in arranging and composing music for drumlines.
- Experience in media content creation and social media management is a plus.

Skills:
- Excellent instructional and leadership skills.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
