As well as scouting and signing singers and musicians an A&R Scout will often manage the recording process and be concerned with the development of artists as they grow and mature. keeping up with the new trends and new artists in the music industry as they emerge, and recommending them to A&R Managers. They need an excellent understanding of the contemporary music scene. A large part of the job is reading trade papers, music magazines and websites. Blogs and social networking sites are a very important part of the process as they are the most organic source of information in spotting trends. The A&R Scout will also spend a lot main job with keeping up with the new trends and new artists in the music industry as they emerge, and recommending them to A&R Managers. They need an excellent understanding of the contemporary music scene.
Key Responsibilities:

Talent Scouting:
Actively seek out new and emerging musical talents. This involves attending live performances, showcases, open mic nights, music festivals, and other events where artists may be performing.

Demo Review:
Listen to music submissions, including demos and online submissions, from aspiring artists and bands. Evaluate the quality of their music, performance, and potential for commercial success.

Industry Networking:
Build and maintain a strong network within the music industry. Establish connections with musicians, managers, agents, producers, and other industry professionals to stay informed about promising new talents.

Research and Analysis:
Keep up-to-date with current music trends, consumer preferences, and emerging genres. Analyze market data and competitor activities to identify gaps and opportunities in the artist roster.

Artist Development:
Work closely with potential signings to provide constructive feedback on their music and performance. Guide artists in refining their sound, image, and brand identity to enhance marketability.

Recommendations and Presentations:
Prepare and present reports and recommendations on potential signings to higher management and the A&R team. Articulate the artistic and commercial potential of artists in a clear and persuasive manner.

Relationship Building:
Cultivate positive relationships with artists and their teams. Act as a liaison between artists and the label, addressing their questions and concerns and fostering a collaborative working environment.

Follow Industry Legalities:
Understand the legal aspects of signing artists, including contract negotiations and rights management. Collaborate with the legal and business affairs team to ensure smooth contract processing. Pay is 5% of artist net profit after expense. The more artist you discover, the more 5% offers.
