JOB SUMMARY
This position is part-time. The Music Director is responsible for providing music at all of our weekly worship services and special services using a piano and/or organ. The Music Director is also responsible for leading and coordinating our adult choir.
MAJOR DUTIES
Accompanist:
Provide music for Sunday Worship services using a piano and/or organ each Sunday of the year Collaborate with the pastor on music selections Provide music for special services on Maundy Thursday and Christmas Eve yearly Provide music for additional service if available on a per service arrangement
Choir Director:
Direct, accompany, recruit and coordinate with volunteer adult ch2oir Lead weekly choir rehearsals Select music within their current skill level plus some to challenge them Select soloists and hire instrumentalists for occasional worship services
KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION
Knowledge of music and hymns Ability to read music from a hymnal and sheet music Ability to play various types of pianos Ability to play an organ a plus Ability to lead an adult choir
COMMISION COMPENSATION SCHEDULE
Accompanist for a regular Sunday service: $200.00 Includes tasks to prepare for service Accompanist for a special service: $225.00 Honorarium for accompanist at funeral/wedding/other: musician’s discretion Lead midweek choir rehearsal: $100.00 Lead choir for Sunday rehearsal and service: $100.00 Lead special service for choir and rehearsal: $125.00 Honorarium for leading choir at funeral/wedding/other: musician’s discretion
ACCOUNTABILITY
The Music Director is supervised by the Pastor and accountable to the Session Performance will be reviewed semi-annually, with compensation adjusted annually If interested in applying for this position, please email Rev.
