Everett Summer High School Band Program Director

WORKING TIMES

July 7th-July 31st 8am-12pm 4-week commitment

REMUNERATION

$40/hour to not exceed $3,200

DESCRIPTION:

The Everett High School Summer Band program will recruit up to 30-40 current 6th- 12th grade band students to participate in summer music classes, continue building instrument skills, and perform at an end-of-program summer concert. We are seeking 1 director to coordinate the high school program.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervise all program staff, including instrument instructors and teen assistant instructors.
Design outreach materials and recruit a minimum of 20-40 6th- 12th graders to participate in the program.
Coordinate all program activities, including music classes, breakfast and lunch, and the end-of-summer concert performance.
Serve as the point of contact for families and provide relevant information to families and students regarding the program regularly.
Establish and maintain program behavioral expectations, ensuring all students can safely and successfully participate in the program.
Order supplies and materials and oversee the development and execution of programmatic curriculum.
Maintain accurate enrollment and attendance records. Provide an evaluation of the program upon termination.

REQUIREMENTS

2+ years of experience directing a band and/or music program.
Ability to stay organized in order to plan events, copy music, distribute items and recruit volunteers. Knowledge of instrumental techniques and pedagogy as well as modern band performance practices.
Current EPS employee.

PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS

At least one year of administrative experience
Master’s Degree in Education preferred Three or more years of elementary, middle school and/or high school teaching experience in music education
Previous summer music program participation Foreign language proficiency
