The ideal candidate for this role would be responsible for overseeing sung liturgies in the Parish, nurturing the community in prayer through music, and maintaining a flourishing program. This includes oversight relevant to the parish music program in consultation with the Pastor. The specific duties of this position include but are not limited to:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provides organ music for all weekend Masses, funerals, weddings, Holy Days, and for special liturgical events Directs and schedules all cantors for weekend Mass coverage and funerals Directs the parish choir (Sept-June); leading in their development as necessary Directs the Christmas and Easter Children’s choirs Assists in the recruitment of choir members Plans all liturgical music with the pastor Supervises maintenance of the organ, pianos and audio equipment, etc. in coordination with the pastor and other staff members Consults with the pastor/administrator in determining the goals and evaluating the outcomes of the parish music program Assists in the coordination of or provides instruction for any special music programs initiated in the parish Coordinates coverage of liturgical music for any requested absences
Job Qualifications:
Practicing Catholic who actively participates in the Sacramental life of the Church Minimum of 5 years prior experience in music ministry preferred Excellence in vocal and organ skills BA degree in music Comprehensive knowledge of Catholic Church teaching with particular emphasis in liturgical tradition and knowledgeable in wedding, funeral and Sacramental music Ability and patience to lead and teach choir, and experience in choir direction Effective communication skills and willingness to work as part of a parish team Applicants may send their cover letter and resume to Mr. Michael Fitzmaurice, Director of Operations and Finance, at
