Job Description
Front Street United Methodist Church in Burlington, NC, is seeking a full-time Director of Music Ministry/Organist to lead and enrich its traditional worship life. This role centers on organ and piano leadership, directing adult and children’s choirs, and overseeing handbell ensembles. Key Responsibilities:
Lead worship through organ and/or piano accompaniment. Direct and rehearse adult choir and handbell ensembles. Support or lead children’s choir and handbell ministry. Collaborate with the worship planning team for special services. Recruit, mentor, and inspire volunteers and musicians. Manage music ministry administration, including library, licensing, and budget.
Qualifications:
Strong proficiency in organ and piano. Experience conducting choirs and working with handbells. Deep knowledge of sacred music and the Christian liturgical year. Collaborative spirit and strong communication skills. Advanced degree in music or sacred music (or comparable experience) preferred.
