Part-time Music Specialist and Performance Director:
Hampstead Academy, an independent Pre-K-8 school committed to inquiry-based and personalized learning, is seeking a passionate and creative Part-Time Music Specialist and Performance Director to join our dynamic team for the 2025-2026 school year. This is a unique opportunity to bring the joy of music to students across all grade levels and to lead inspiring school performances that showcase student talent.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and deliver an engaging music curriculum for students in Grades K- 8, emphasizing musical literacy, creativity, and appreciation of diverse genres. Teach general music classes, including vocal music, rhythm, basic music theory, and instrumentation. Direct and produce school-wide performances such as concerts, musicals, and talent showcase. Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate music into interdisciplinary learning experiences. Create an inclusive classroom environment that nurtures confidence and active participation. Oversee all performance production elements—rehearsals, set design, costumes, and coordination with staff. Provide meaningful assessments and individualized feedback to support student growth. Incorporate current music education trends, tools, and technology into instruction.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Music Education, Music Performance, or a related field (Master’s preferred). Ability to direct choirs and lead group performances. Prior experience teaching music to elementary and/or middle school students. Proven experience organizing and directing student performances. Strong classroom management and communication skills. Ability to inspire a love for music in students of varying ages and skill levels. Flexibility, creativity, and a collaborative spirit. Familiarity with child-centered, progressive, or project-based school environments a plus.
Schedule & Compensation:
This is a part-time position, with specific days and hours to be determined collaboratively based on performance schedules and classroom needs. Compensation is commensurate with experience and includes opportunities for additional stipends related to performances and events.
