Full Job Description Position Music Director Overview:

The Music Director will conduct all music ministries at HUMC.

Responsibilities/Duties:

• Will lead Sunday morning worship service with the choir incorporating both traditional and contemporary music.
• Will conduct Choir practice on Sunday mornings, as well as, a week-night practice preferably Wednesday evenings. Candidate will occasionally need to be available after service to rehearse as well.
• Will lead special services for Christmas Eve, Christmas Cantata, Easter, Ash Wednesday, Holy Thursday, and Good Friday.
• Special services may arise such as Weddings and Funerals.
• Additional stipend for these services
• Build and maintain a library of choral and solo music.
• Manage volunteers and operate the department within its budget.
• Write articles for the church newsletter, .
• Grow the choir through outreach.
• Coordinate the music schedule with the Choir President, Pastor and Worship Committee.

Requirements:

• A strong ability to play the organ and piano.
• A strong ability to lead music vocally and direct a volunteer choir.
• A degree in music or equivalent experience in the field of music ministry preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Must exhibit an appropriate character.
• Organize the corresponding music selections from the music library.
• Ability to play traditional, classical and contemporary music.
• Support the contemporary music group (Sacred Messengers).
